Avshalom Okashi (1916-1980)
Avshalom Okashi was born in Israel. He worked as a shepherd and painted in his free time. In 1948, Okashi was one of the founders of the New Horizons Group and took part in all its exhibits. His early work focused on landscapes and depictions of the Old City of Akko. In the 1960s, he painted a series of large-scale abstract works in which the dominant color was black. Okashi's home in Akko was turned into a museum
